My friend and neighbour Sharon began her garden just around the time she retired (about 10 years ago) and has since won several civic and gardening awards for her amazing garden. This summer our region has battled level 3 drought conditions, so we can imagine the amount of hand watering Sharon has been required to do.

apologies for the lighting - it was evening of a very sunny day.

This is a magnificent antique bicycle and Sharon has just placed it in her garden, letting its fabulous old bones speak for themselves and not smothering them in baskets bursting with plants (which can be lovely but I think her decision not to in this instance was brilliant)

Sharon paints everything that goes in her garden. It wouldn't be my tendency but I do see the benefit of having her 2 signature colours of green and purple as a base in her garden. Painting deprisves her of the lovely natural aging I seek in garden junk, but it greatly prolongs the life of her garden treasures and the colours work beautifully together.
